Net Comparison: A Fast and Effective Method for Classifying Image Sequences

چکیده
As video information proliferates, managing video sources becomes increasingly important. Automatic video partitioning is a prerequisite for organizing and indexing video sources. Several methods have been introduced to tackle this problem, e.g. pairwise and histogram comparisons. Each has advantages, but all are slow because they entail inspection of entire images. Furthermore none of these methods have been able to deene camera break and gradual transition, which are basic concepts for partitioning. In this paper, we attempt to deene camera break. Then, based on our deenition and probability analysis, we propose a new video partitioning algorithm, called NET Comparison (NC), which compares the pixels along predeened net lines. In this way, only part of the image is inspected during classiication. We compare the eeec-tiveness of our method with other algorithms such as pairwise, likelihood and histogram comparisons, evaluating them on the basis of a large set of varied image sequences that include camera movements, zooming, moving objects, deformed objects and video with degraded image quality. Both gray-level and HSV images were tested and our method out-performed existing approaches in speed and accuracy. On average, our method processes images two to three time faster than the best existing approach.

Developing a method for identification of net zones using log data and diffusivity equation
Distinguishing productive zones of a drilled oil well plays a very important role for petroleum engineers to decide where to perforate to produce oil. Conventionally, net pay zones are determined by applying a set of cut-offs on perophysical logs. As a result, the conventional method finds productive intervals crisply. In this investigation, a net index value is proposed, then; diffusivity equa...

Introduction: There are some routine two-dimensional sequences, including short tau inversion recovery (STIR), T2-weighted fast-spin echo (T2W-FSE), and proton-density fast spin-echo for diagnosing osteoarthritis and lesions of the knee cartilage. However, these sequences have some disadvantages, such as long scan time, inadequate spatial resolution, and suboptimal tis...
متن کاملA Convolutional Neural Network based on Adaptive Pooling for Classification of Noisy Images
Convolutional neural network is one of the effective methods for classifying images that performs learning using convolutional, pooling and fully-connected layers. All kinds of noise disrupt the operation of this network. Noise images reduce classification accuracy and increase convolutional neural network training time. Noise is an unwanted signal that destroys the original signal. Noise chang...

Transmission of compressed video over error prone channels may result in packet losses, which can degrade the image quality. Error concealment (EC) is an effective approach to reduce the degradation caused by the missed information. The conventional temporal EC techniques are always inefficient when the motions of the video object are irregular. In this paper, in order to overcome this problem,...
